Jamahl Mosley named head coach
Mosley becomes the Magic's 15th head coach in franchise history
The Orlando Magic have named Jamahl Mosley as their new head coach, the team announced on Monday.
Mosley, 42, has spent the last four seasons as an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks, where he helped lead the team to the Western Conference Finals in 2021.
Prior to joining the Mavericks, Mosley spent five seasons as an assistant coach with the Denver Nuggets and one season as an assistant coach with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Jamahl is a rising star in the coaching ranks, and we are thrilled to welcome him to the Orlando Magic," said Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman. "He is a proven winner with a strong basketball IQ and a great ability to connect with players."
Mosley replaces Steve Clifford, who was fired by the Magic after the team finished with a 22-60 record last season.
The Magic are hoping that Mosley can help them return to the playoffs for the first time since 2019.
"I am honored and excited to be the head coach of the Orlando Magic," said Mosley. "I believe in this team and this organization, and I am committed to building a winning culture here."
Mosley will be introduced to the media at a press conference on Tuesday.
